I fancy you
I want to make this approach and "call on you"
meet your parents on the porch-
when I pick you up
assuring them you will be home on time
while they're still up
Make my visibility with you to churches
not holding hands of love
but in prayer for our commitment
Can I write you a poem?
Call you on the phone to say hi?
walk you home and converse about the universe
or prepare an outdoor lunch on the lawn
lets ride in my dads 68 Rivera,
so we can sit side by side while I drive
and my arm is around you
taking long drives and getting lost on purpose
listening to mix tapes of love songs we made
and drink Ice Teas out of mason jars
These simple things,
is love, love sweet love
Lets go in the rain and walk under one umbrella
kiss at Bus stops longer than big red commercials
go to dairy queen and buy a banana split with two spoons
Spend nights on the 50 yard line
at our old high school starring at a partial moon
profess my love not through social media status
but carved in that weeping willow or park bench
I want to pen you with my favorite poem
making our love official
taking pictures in one of those picture booths
while you wake up to I miss you in chalked on side walks
holding hands, holding each other
kisses that claims our public love affair
I miss this
I want this
bring this back
This love, this is love
the simplest, kinda of love
and I want it..
